When your employment with your current employer ends during the leasing period, you have five options. Choose the one that works best for you.
In case you choose to transfer the bike inform about the transfer using the Transfer form. You must submit it at least 1 month before your intended transfer date.
Option 1: Transfer to a new employer
You can transfer your bike to your new employer's benefit plan if they use Vapaus or Oomi Fillari. This requires written consent from your new employer and they must either have an existing agreement with Vapaus or be willing to sign one.
Option 2: Transfer to another leasing company
If your new employer uses a different bike leasing provider, we can initiate the transfer and negotiate with the new service provider. After that, the new leasing company will create a new contract for you based on your new employer's bike benefit guidelines.
Option 3: Transfer to a colleague
You can transfer your bike to a colleague at your current company if you both agree in writing and your colleague has an approved benefit access request.
Option 4: Redeem the bike
You can buy the bike. The redemption price depends on how long you've had the bike.
Start the redemption through your Vapaus user account. You can choose to pay now or later. After the contract's end date, the bike is yours and you'll receive the deed of sale.
Important: Your redemption price is calculated for the last day of the month. Give notice by the 20th of the month if you want to end your contract that same month. If you notify after the 20th, your contract ends on the last day of the next month.
Option 5: Return the bike
You can return the bike to Vapaus if your contract includes cancellation coverage. You'll pay a cancellation fee (displayed when you start the return). You can also choose to redeem some or all of your accessories instead of returning them. Start the return through your Vapaus user account.
Important: Your return is processed to the last day of the month. Give notice by the 20th of the month if you want to return that same month. If you notify after the 20th, your return will be processed on the last day of the next month.
Tax changes from January 2026
If your benefit bike agreement was created on or after 24 April 2025, it is no longer tax-exempt from 1 January 2026 onwards. If you transfer your bike to a new employer, the transfer is treated as a new benefit and is taxable based on the bike's full market value.
Two important reminders
Add a personal email to your account. If you change employers, you might lose access to your account if you only have your work email on file. Add a personal email address to your Vapaus account so you can stay logged in even if you change employers.
Submit your transfer, redemption, or return by the 20th. To make sure your request is processed for the month you want, give notice by the 20th. Requests made after the 20th will be processed for the last day of the next month.
