Warranty protects you against defects. Here's how it works.
Most benefit bikes come with at least a 24-month manufacturer's warranty from the purchase date (when your contract starts). This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship — not damage from accidents, misuse, or lack of maintenance.
Vapaus Precycled bikes have a 12-month warranty. For other second-hand bikes, please check with the original retailer.
What warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear — chain stretching, brake pad wear, tire wear, cable stretching
- Accidents — falling, crashing, hitting something, dropping the bike or the battery
- Misuse or neglect — not maintaining the bike, ignoring the user manual, improper use or modifications
- User error — anything you caused by mistake
- Regular maintenance — replacing worn parts like chain, tires, or brake pads (this is your responsibility)
Special note: Different bike parts have different warranty lengths. Some electronics may only have a 12-month warranty, while frames sometimes have longer warranties. Check the manufacturer's website if you're unsure.
Where to start a warranty claim
You ordered from a partner shop (in-store or online): Contact the shop directly. They handle the warranty process with the manufacturer.
You ordered from Canyon (November 2022 or later): Go directly to Canyon's contact form at canyon.com and include your order number and bike frame number. Make sure to use the same email address you used when ordering.
You ordered online from another seller (before Canyon integration, other webshops or Precycled bikes): Fill out the Vapaus warranty form. Include:
- Order number (from your confirmation email)
- Frame number (usually under the bottom bracket or on a sticker)
- Detailed description + photos of the problem
- How many kilometers you've ridden (important for drivetrain issues)
What happens after you report
- We collect information — We may ask for photos, videos, or more details about the damage
- We forward to the seller/manufacturer — They decide if it's covered by warranty
- You may need to ship the bike — For online orders, the seller usually provides a shipping label. Expect 3+ weeks for the full process
- Decision — The seller either repairs it, replaces it, or denies the claim
Extended warranty
If your contract started before May 2023, you may have purchased extended warranty. This service is no longer sold for new contracts.
What it covers: Repairs for defects beyond the manufacturer's standard warranty, for your entire lease term (up to 5 years).
What it doesn't cover: Normal wear and tear, accidents, negligence, or regular maintenance.
If you have it: You keep the coverage for your lease term. Follow the same warranty claim process above.
