You can transfer your benefit bike to a new employer or a colleague during the leasing period. When you change jobs, you don't always need to return or redeem the bike — you have another option: transfer it.
Important policy note
As of 1 January 2026, new benefit bike agreements created on or after 24 April 2025 are no longer tax-exempt. If you transfer your bike to a new employer, the transfer is considered a new benefit and is taxable based on the bike's full market value.
What you need to know about bike transfers
- Only the bike and accessories are transferred, not the existing contract or additional services.
- Transfers are executed the 1st day of each month, even if you change jobs mid-month.
- Transfer fees may apply.
- Your leasing duration, monthly taxable value, and redemption value may change.
Start the transfer at least a month before your intended transfer date using the Transfer form.
Transfer options
1. Transfer to a new employer's Vapaus or Oomi Fillari benefit
Your bike can be transferred to your new employer's existing benefit plan (through Vapaus or Oomi Fillari) with the new employer's consent. The transfer must happen immediately when your employment ends with your current employer — the contract cannot be paused. A transfer is not possible if your employment has already ended.
Confirm with your new employer that they accept the transfer before starting the transfer.
2. Transfer to a colleague in your current company
Your bike can be transferred to a colleague at your current employer with written consent from both of you and an approved benefit access request of your colleague.
3. Transfer from another leasing company to Vapaus
If your new employer uses a different leasing company, we negotiate with the current leasing company to transfer the bike. After that, we'll create a new leasing contract for the bike based on your new employer's bike benefit guidelines.
4. Transfer from Vapaus to another leasing company
If your new employer uses a different leasing company, we negotiate with the new leasing company to transfer the bike. After that the new leasing company creates a new leasing contract for the bike based on your new employer's bike benefit guidelines.
