April 23, 2025 – The Finnish government has proposed removing the tax-free status of benefit bikes starting in early 2026. ☝️At this stage, it's just a proposal — not yet a confirmed change in law.
🤔 What does this mean for Vapaus customers?
The proposal would affect all employees and employers who use the employment bike benefit in Finland. No changes have been made to the bike benefit yet and the benefit is still tax-free. However, the benefit is still legally tax-free for now, and employees can continue to enjoy the tax savings throughout 2025. In short — nothing is changing at the moment.

🚲 Benefit Bike Redemption and Return
Since this is not yet an approved legislative change, Vapaus does not urge customers to redeem or return benefit bikes based solely on a possible future change. We encourage all customers to fully enjoy the current tax benefit with every ride and to wait patiently until more details or decisions are provided by the government in autumn. Vapaus will keep all customers informed as soon as new information becomes available. 🙏
